1. Introduction
VocaSwipe ("we," "our," or "the app") is a Spanish vocabulary learning app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
- Email address (when signing in with email)
- Name and profile information (when signing in with Google or Apple)
- A unique user identifier generated by Firebase Authentication
2.2 Learning Data
- Vocabulary progress, quiz scores, streaks, and CEFR assessment results
- Daily goal settings and learning preferences
- All learning data is stored locally on your device
2.3 Usage Analytics
- Screen views, session duration, and feature usage via Firebase Analytics
- App performance and crash diagnostics
2.4 Device Information
- Device type, operating system version
- Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) — used for ad personalization
- Firebase Installation ID
2.5 Purchase Information
- Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat
- We do not store or have access to your payment card details — payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play)
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the vocabulary learning service and track your progress
- To personalize your learning experience (adaptive CEFR assessment, spaced repetition)
- To display advertisements to free-tier users via Google AdMob
- To manage premium subscriptions via RevenueCat
- To improve the app through aggregated analytics (Firebase Analytics)
- To authenticate your account and enable cloud sync
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — user sign-in and account management
- Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) — aggregated usage analytics
- Google AdMob (Google LLC) — advertising for free-tier users
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) — subscription and in-app purchase management
- Apple Sign In (Apple Inc.) — optional authentication method
5. Advertising and Tracking
- Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob
- On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before enabling ad personalization
- Your Advertising ID (IDFA/GAID) may be used by AdMob for ad targeting
- You may opt out of personalized ads through your device settings:
- iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking
- Android: Settings > Google > Ads
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your learning data is stored locally on your device and retained while the app is installed
- Account data is retained while your account is active
- You can delete your account and all associated data through the app: Settings > Account > Delete Account
- Upon account deletion, your Firebase Authentication profile and cloud-synced data are permanently removed
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including Firebase's built-in encryption for data in transit and at rest. Local data is stored in your device's secure application sandbox.
8. Children's Privacy
VocaSwipe is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out of personalized advertising
- Withdraw consent for tracking (iOS ATT prompt)
- Export your learning data
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
